Work & Environments (SWE) is a small OHS&E Consultancy firm that has been operating in the Wollongong/Illawarra Region for the past 2 ½ years with a wide range of asbestos removalists, demolishers and construction companies as clientele. SWE conduct a variety of air monitoring, identifying, analysing and risk assessment of hazardous substances in residential, commercial, retail, industrial and government sectors.

Safe Work & Environments (SWE) has been operating in the Wollongong Area & Illawarra Region for over 2 years now and has an established office at 41 Market Street operating for the last 18 months. From quite a short operating period within the region, we have established a wide range of clientele from friable to bonded asbestos removalists, demolishers, builders, large construction companies, local government and some defence sites. Some of the SWE clientele in Wollongong include P&D Envirotech, JBG Contractors, Hansen Yuncken, Joss Facility Management and Manteena.

Projects within the region range from:

• Conducting asbestos air monitoring at site boundaries while asbestos is being removed and undertaking visual clearance certificates after asbestos removal.
• Writing Preliminary Asbestos Assessments and Asbestos Management Plans for various clients who encounter asbestos contamination in the middle of a project that requires quick response and remediation strategies.
• Taking and identifying, through laboratory analysis, asbestos, lead dust, lead paint and other hazardous substances for clients.
• Waste classifying soil for disposal that require a laboratory certificate for hazardous chemicals and substances such as heavy metals i.e. lead; volatile organic compounds i.e. benzene, toluene, xylene and petroleum products
• Asbestos and hazardous materials report/register for owners and occupiers of retail, commercial and industrial premises.

One of our clients, Hansen Yuncken, has been conducting extensive redevelopment works at HMAS Creswell at Jervis Bay for the last 3 years. An original site visit to identify potential asbestos contamination to a stockpile has lead to ongoing site visits and work for SWE for the past 2 years.
