Asbestos inspection, audits and surveys are carried out to generate an asbestos register in order to assist the management of in situ asbestos containing materials and the safe removal of asbestos from commercial, residential, industrial structures.

Asbestos containing materials such as 'fibro' sheeting are commonly found in soils where fill materials are present as well as to the ground surfaces and below building floors and slabs where inappropriate demolition and construction have taken place.

Hazardous Materials inspection audits including asbestos, PCB, lead paint and dust, oxygen depleting substances (ODS) and SMF are typically carried our for demolition projects and renovation works.

All sampling and testing of asbestos containing materials are analysed and identified in the Sydney SWE in-house laboratory that is accredited by the National Association of Testing Authorities, Australia (NATA). We can perform sampling and testing of soils, building materials and air for the presence of asbestos fibres.

In the ACT, Canberra all buildings built before 2004 must have in place an Asbestos Management Plan for the site. SWE's staff are all licenced asbestos assessors and can carry out building inspections to identify and assess asbestos.

SWE specialise in the sampling and assessment of lead paint and lead dust to buildings and structures.

Sampling for airborne asbestos fibres is carried out to assess the asbestos health risk associated with the presence of atmospheric asbestos fibres in workplaces and at construction sites. SWE is NATA accredited for the analysis of asbestos fibre samples collected from air monitoring and testing.

Asbestos removal and remediation projects can be managed and organised by SWE on behalf of the builder, owner or tenant to ensure the correct asbestos removal procedures are implemented and to ascertain the health and safety of staff and building occupants.
